What are Electronic Cigarettes?

Electronic cigarettes, also known as e-cigarettes, e-cigs or personal vapourisers, are devices designed to simulate the feeling of smoking, without the harmful effects of burning tobacco. An electronic cigarette looks and feels like a normal cigarette, and allows users to maintain their nicotine intake without smoking cigarettes. An electronic cigarette consists of a battery, atomiser, and cartridge. When you "smoke" or draw on the cartridge, the battery heats the atomiser. This in turn heats the liquid contained in the cartridge. As the liquid is heated it emits a vapour containing nicotine, this vapour feels and looks similar to smoke. The liquid in the cartridge contains nicotine at differing strengths.

What is in the cartridge?

Cartridges contain a liquid composed of water, nicotine, propylene glycerol and tobacco flavouring. Propylene glycerol is a widely used colourless, odourless liquid that can also be found in food flavourings, asthma inhalers, cough medicines and cosmetics. Please note that nicotine is a highly addictive substance, and as such we do not recommend that non-smokers use electronic cigarettes.

How long do the batteries last?

Batteries charge in about 2 - 2.5 hours, and last about 4 hours. Battery life will vary depending how much the e-cigarette is used.
